Command Sergeant Major (Ret) William "Bill" Earl Haggerty, 77, of Edgar, MT passed away at St. Vincent Medical Center in Billings.
Bill was born on January 16, 1930 in Glendive, MT, the son of William and Florence (Guay) Haggerty. He was raised and educated in the Glendive area and worked several jobs before he joined the Army. His military service spanned over 20 years during which time he received many awards and medals including the Bronze Star, several Meritorious Service Medals and Commendation Medals. He retired from the Army as a Command Sergeant Major on June 30, 1974.
Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly of Edgar; two daughters Josephine (Joe) Harper of Grand Junction, CO, and Suzanne Haggerty of Austin, TX; a sister, Joan (Donnie) Dann of Terry, MT; three step-daughters: Jody Allen of Emigrant, MT, Jennifer (Timothy) Cihal of Spokane, WA, and Carla (Thomas) Huff of Holly Springs, NC; 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Upon retirement Bill enjoyed wood working, remodeling, hunting, fishing, and playing cards.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday February 19th at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Laurel (417 W. 9th Street) with visitation beginning at 10 am. Interment with military honors will follow at Rockvale Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Edgar School Gymnasium.
