Virginia Rose Southworth, 87, of Park City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday October 13, 2008. Virginia was born October 2, 1921 to Irene and Gavin Wilson, and was raised in Berkley, California. During WWII she worked in the shipyards. She met Robert Southworth after the war and married him on March 9, 1946, in Reno, Nevada. After residing in California for ten years, they moved to Park City to raise their family. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and was a blue ribbon winner for her pickles and dilly beans. She loved all the neighborhood children. Often she would provide them with presents. She was fondly known to them as "Grandma Virginia". Her grip and her grin will be missed by all.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Robert and four sisters: Baby Grace, Annabelle, Lorraine, and Norrine. She is survived by her brother Denny; her three children, Chris (Janet), Charlene (Gary), Kenny (Mary) and dear friend Jim Horton. She has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to specially thank all the staff at Laurel Evergreen Nursing Home for the kindness and love they shared with Virginia. Visitation will be from 10AM - 9PM Weds at the Remington Letcher Chapel of Laurel, 420 19th Ave W. (south of Golf Coarse Road). Funeral Services will be held at 10AM Thursday October 16, 2008 at the Park City Methodist Church. Memorials may be made in Virginia's name to the Park City Methodist Church.
