Victor Miller Obituary

Upon completing a circle of perserverance, Victor Miller entered the Lord's rest on May 15, 2008 in Laurel. Victor was born June 19, 1920 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Jacob and Elizabeth (Michaels) Miller. When Vic was 9 years old his mother died of pneumonia leaving his father to raise the children alone- thrusting Vic, the eldest son, into the challenges of leadership which would forever shape who he became. After completing the 8th grade, Victor farmed with his father near Lodge Grass. At 18 he enlisted in the Army and fought on the front lines for 5 years in New Guinea as a Staff Sergeant during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart before returning to American soil. After the war, Vic returned to Ladge Grass where he farmed. In 1957 he married Faith Birdfaraway. Later the couple moved to southern California where Vic worked as a Master Carpenter. It was there they began to raise their family. Thought the marriage dissolved, he never lost sight of the family needs. As the father he was, Vic chose not to re-marry. He continued to work in CA before retiring in Lancaster. In 2001, Vic returned to Ladge Grass to be near his 'kids'. In the fall of 2007 his battle with emphysema intensified requiring special care in Laurel, MT. He is survived by his children: Glenn, Charitina, William, Stephen, Tomi and Brandon; and 13 grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 11:00AM Monday, May 19, 2008 at the First Crow Indian Baptist Church in Lodge Grass.
