Shirley Pike Obituary

Shirley M. Pike age 80 of Laurel, passed away February 03, 2021.

Shirley was born in Bircham England on May 26, 1940 to Alice and George Freeman.  She grew up and attended school in the small English village of Helhoughton.  Shirley was a hairdresser on the Royal Air Force Station of Sculthorpe where she met her husband Tom who was in the Unites States Air Force.  They were married on April 24th, 1957.  Shirley and Tom then crossed the “pond” to Tom’s final duty station in Billings Montana where they made their home and raised their 4 children.

Shirley was immensely proud of her British heritage and never became a United States Citizen.  Every year on Independence Day, the Union Jack flew along side the Stars and Stripes.  Shirley had a quick wit and was never afraid to give you her honest opinion. She loved family gatherings and playing cards, especially pinochle.  She played in many pinochle clubs where she made some lifelong friends.

Shirley is survived by her son Tom “Michael” (Shay) Pike of Bozeman, daughters Karen (Joel) Barnhart of Laurel, Lisa (Brad) Harris of Billings, daughter in-law Joyce Pike of Billings, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Shirley is proceeded in death by her husband Tom Pike, son David Pike and grandson Derick Pike.

A Celebration of Life and interment in the National Veteran’s Cemetery in Laurel will be scheduled at a later date.
