Sandra Lynn Mossman

It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Sandra Lynn Mossman. With her daughter-in-law by her side and the love of family and great friends surrounding her Sandy passed away Wednesday February 3, 2010. Sandy was born march 10, 1945 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Virginia Lynn (Conover) Alkire and John Frances Alkire. With WWII in full swing, John was stationed in England and learned about the birth, his first born child in the Stars and Stripes. Upon John's return from the Army and in serch of a placee to start a life, the three membbers of the family made their way to Portland, Oregon. Sandy's family eventually grew to include John, Joeseph, Brenda and Michele. Sandy spent all her early years attending school in Portland. As the first memeber of ther familh to head to college she breifly attended Oregon State University, but soon made her way to the University of Oregon, Eugene. It was there she met and married Beal Mossman. By most accounts, the mid-sixties in Eugene was a fairly interesting place to be. Following graduation they moved and made Billings their home. Sandy taught at Taftf Elementary School, and her words "It was the best place she could have ever imagined being" SHe quickly fell in love with the kids and a prfession that would come to be a passion throughout her life. During this time Sandy gave birth to her son, Beau in 1971. The family moved to an old red farm house that they shared with her beloved stepdaughters, Seanne and Jill. Sandy finished her Master's Degree in Educational Administration in 1978. Sandy then worked as the principle of Ponderosa Elementary School. She later became the first principle of Eagle Cliffs Elementary in 1986. Sandy retired form School District2 as the Director of Curriculum in 1994. A gathering will be held on Saturday February 13, from 4 - 6PM at 914 N. 32nd Street Billings, Montana.
