Roy James Laird

Roy J. Laird, 82, of Billings, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday July 15, 2019 at Laurel Health Care Center.  Roy was born to James and Anna (Eskro) Laird September 6, 1936 in Washoe, Montana.  Roy grew-up working on various farms in the Red Lodge area.  In 1954, he Joined the United States Navy.  While on leave from the Navy, Roy met Sally Schreiner and proposed to her in a letter six months later!  Roy and Sally were married at the First Congregational Church in Laurel October 25, 1958, together they raised three boys..  Roy worked at General Electric, Heritage Electric and retired from Border States Electric in Billings.  He enjoyed gardening, working in his garage and watching westerns.  Roy will be remembered as a wonderful father, devoted husband, a doting grandfather and proud Navy man.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sally and son Daniel.  He is survived by his sons David and Robert (Lisa) Laird, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Memorial Services will 10:00am Thursday July 25, 2019 at the Church of the Nazarene in Laurel with interment at Yellowstone National Cemetery.
