Peter Schrumpf Obituary

Peter Edward Schrumpf, 58, of Park City, UT passed from this life on Sunday, March 28, 2021. Peter was born to Clarice and Franklin Schrumpf in Red Lodge, Montana on October 17th, 1962.

Peter graduated from Billings Senior High School where he served as the Senior Class President, accompanied by his twin brother, Phil, as his Vice President. His school years were full of joy with family, friends, and friends who became family, as the Schrumpf household was always known as a safe haven for peers looking for a loving place to stay.

While studying at Montana State University, Peter spent as much time as possible pursuing his true passion on the slopes of the Bridger Bowl. He took time from his studies to move to the US Army Garrison Bavaria, where he worked at the Military Rec Center teaching our military families to ski in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This was a very special time in Peter’s life and afforded him the opportunity to ski some of the top slopes of Europe. It also was a time for forging friendships he carried throughout his life. It ultimately led him to his life in Park City, Utah where Peter taught in the ski school and was a Masters Race Coach. Peter’s ability to teach, coach, and mentor young people, as well as their parents, was a true gift. The ease at which he skied was remarkable and beautiful to watch.

In 1988, Peter had his one and only child, a daughter named Timi Christina, who was the true light of his life. Peter was delighted to know that he now had a permanent sidekick, and he was so very proud of every accomplishment she had, her first steps, her first words, graduating from college, and then graduate school. Peter was so proud.

Peter lived a full, vivacious life and any stranger he met almost instantly became a friend. His passion for life was contagious and his dedication to living a life you love was, and will continue to be, an inspiration. Left to cherish Peter’s memory is his daughter, Timi Christina, his siblings, Dr. Philip Schrumpf and Barbara (Rod) Boettcher, his second mother, Mimi Schrumpf, nephew Jason (Dayhana) Schrumpf, and many cousins, extended family, and more friends than most will meet in a lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Christina (Tina).

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
