Peggy Wanner Obituary

Peggy Lou Wanner, 79 of Laurel Montana died October 15th after a lengthy illness. She was born in Havre, Montana to Henry and Mary (Smith) Bickford on April 22nd, 1929. She grew up and attended school in Havre and later attended nursing school in Bozeman. Peggy married Ken Miller in 1947 and 3 children were born of this marriage. Peggy and Ken divorced. She married Fred Wanner in 1970. Fred and Peggy moved to Portland, Oregon and had just recently returned to Laurel. While living in Portland, Peggy filled a passion of taking care of underprivileged individuals. She collected food and clothing which she delivered to many homeless people in the Portland area. Peggy's greatest passion was her love for animals, especially her Maltese dogs. She spent 35 years raising, breeding and showing her award winning Maltese dogs (Timer, Ria and many more).

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Fred Wanner of Laurel. She is also survived by her children Mike (Terri) Miller of Laurel, Verna (John) Lawrence of Buffalo, WY and Tim Miller of Laurel. Other survivors include her step children Peggy (Steve) Schreiner, Vickey (Justin) Anderson, Rick (Marcia) Wanner, Fred ( Liza) Wanner, Tammy (Corey) Vogel, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Wade Bickford (Cathy) of Havre and Floyd (Mary) Bickford of Butte and her very special niece, Mary Beth Dahlin of Billings.

Preceding her in death are her parents, 3 brothers, Max, Russell and Steve Bickford, two sisters, Teressa Staples and Mildred Coe and one infant son.

Memorials may be sent to Rocky Mountain Hospice or The Rimrock Humane Society. Services will be held on Saturday October 18th at 10:30 AM at the Laurel Methodist Church.
