Nancy Rae Hoffman Matirne, 79, was called to her heavenly home on April 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on December 14, 1943, to C.E. and Katie (Owens) Hoffman. The youngest of five children, Nancy found joy in spending time with her siblings and often recalled stories of mischief and excitement within the home. Nancy attended Shady Grove High School and, shortly after graduating, married her childhood friend Joseph Kendrick Matirne (Pneu) on March 13, 1965. Pneu and Nancy raised their children Alise Jo (Bradley), Jason Kendrick, and Derek Charles in Grosse Tete, Louisiana before moving to Montana in 1985 to follow Pneu's career. Some of her fondest friendships and memories were formed in Montana. She enjoyed painting, canning, and supporting her granddaughter and granddaughter's teammates at endless Park City Panther sporting events. On long road trips, whether to Louisiana to visit family or on a camping trip, you would find Nancy with her feet on the dashboard reading a book and enjoying the scenery. The swing in their yard served for many years as a permanent place for long talks, coffee, and laughter. In recent years she adopted and adored her dog Punkin. They shared an immediate bond and found joy in each other's presence. Nancy is survived by her husband Pneu, daughter Alise (Beaumont Bradley), son Derek (Tawnia), grandchild Katie (Jay Hanley), great-grandchildren Avery, Iris, Evelynn, Bossier, and sister Dixie (Kirkland). She was preceded in death by her son Jason Kendrick, parents C.E. and Katie, sisters Kay (Williams) and Georgia, and brother Charles.
