Michael McNamee Obituary

Michael "Mike" William McNamee passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 12th at St. Vincent's after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. Mike was born on a ranch in Bismarck, North Dakota August 9, 1951 to Irene "Helen" and William McNamee. Mike attended local schools in Shields and Mobridge, SD and was instilled with the value of hard work from his parents through working on the family farm and ranch. After graduating high school in 1970 he was drafted into the United States Army before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1977. Mike was extremely proud of his service to our country and remained active in honoring others who served through his involvement in the Park City American Legion Post 100. After his service in the Army, Mike moved to Billings, MT and then Park City where he was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation for 33 years. Mike valued his hard work and through this was able to start a successful business venture with his two sons following his retirement with the BLM. It made him extremely proud that he was able to work with his sons doing something he was very passionate about. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and was always particularly happy during his many summer and winter Walleye fishing trips to Fort Peck and other lakes with his sons, grandchildren and close friends. Mike was always trying to find "the ticket" to catch the big one and could always tell you a good fishing story. Mike also enjoyed his garden and canning the fresh vegetables he grew. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Helen and William McNamee. Mike is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Brittany McNamee of Eagle Mountain, UT and Casey and Jessica McNamee of Park City, MT; son Dan Fowles and children of Mobridge, SD; his sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Bob Gant of Cascade, CO; his friend and partner Kay Brown of Billings, MT; and his grandchildren Ethan and Chloe McNamee of Park City.
