Mary "Libby" Wark Obituary

Mary “Libby” Elizabeth Wark, 91, of Park City, passed away peacefully Saturday September 23, 2023 in Billings surrounded by her family.  She was born to Floyd and Faye (Huston) Dowlin in Forsyth, Montana September 21, 1932, the youngest of seven children.

Libby met her husband Charles Wark while attending Eastern Montana College, and married in 1959.  She was very involved in her community and her interest in education led her to running for the Park City School Board where she served several terms.  Libby held a number of seasonal jobs throughout the years; she drove truck for sugar beet harvest and worked the scale house at the sugar beet dump.  She also worked each election, collecting ballots.

Church family and being involved in the Methodist Church in Park City and Laurel was very important to Libby.  She loved the woman’s group where she helped prepare and serve meals for services and the youth group.  She was involved in the Walk to Emmaus, where she met lifetime friends who continued to meet on a weekly basis for decades.  Her spirituality was important to her and she loved to study the Bible on her own, as well as with others.  She shared her love for the Lord with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

One of Libby’s passions was playing any type of game, whether it is cards, or board games with friends and family.  Her love of Bridge led to many long lasting friendships and kept her mind agile, giving her something to look forward to every week.

She enjoyed travel and was blessed to take trips up until her 90th birthday.  Libby was a loving wife and proud mother of four children, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.  She lived a full life with her husband Charles until his death in 2017 and lived the remaining years with her son Rod.

Libby was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and a granddaughter Brooke Lowman.  Left to cherish her memory are her children Karla (Mark) Lowman, Rod Wark, Pam (Don) Benjamin and Teresa (Ron) Egelhoff; grandchildren Tarin (Jim) Barta, Heather Haywood; great-grandchildren Jett Barta, Elizabeth, Finley and Breck.

“We loved you very much Mom…”

A Celebration Gathering will be 1:00 pm Friday October 6, 2023 at the Laurel United Methodist Church with refreshments and fellowship to follow.
