Mary Jane Barsness

Mary Jane Barness died June 6, 2008 surrounded by her family at St Vincent Hospital, Billings. Mary Jane was born August 30, 1940 in St. Vincent, MN to James and Ione (Kocian) Gooselaw. In 1945 the family moved to Grand Forks, and later to Moorhead in 1952 where Mary Jane attended schools at St. Frances de Sales grade school and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1957. She married Lawrence John Barsness in 1962 and had 46 loving years of marriage until his passing January 26, 2008. Together they raised 6 children. Mary was very devoted to her family, she was loving, caring, kind-hearted and quick-witted with a great sense of humor Mary was a friend to all and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary Jane is survived by her children, Nancy Rangel, Bobbi Barsness and Diana Sobrepena, of Bozeman, James Barsness, Casselton, ND, Kirk Barsness and Darla Barsness of Billings; brothers, Donald Gooselaw, Fargo ND and James A. (Lorraine) Gooselaw of Detroit Lakes, MN; a sister Margaret Ann (Ron) Cleem, St. Vincent, MN; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and husband. Burial will be held at a later date in Bozeman.
