Lydia (Schreiner) Krug

 Lydia, 93, was the 4th of 7 children to George and Maria Schreiner born on August
14, 1931 in Kautz, Russia and went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2025. She
arrived in America, sponsored by an Aunt and Uncle on April 1, 1952. She married
Jacob Krug on September 13, 1958. To this union, two children were born. She
enjoyed raising her family on the farm, with some cattle, chickens and her very
prideful garden. Mom and Dad really enjoyed having the 4th of July picnics at our
house, which happened for nearly 50 years and continued after Dad passed. She
also loved to bake Rivel Kuchen, Grebble, cookies, and many other German dishes.
She was part of the Deutsche Festspielers during the Herbstfest, making quilts and
sock monkeys. She also loved going fishing with anyone that would take her,
watching or riding in mud trucks and had her final ride in Susie’s 1977 F150 pickup
a few weeks ago.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake, all siblings and spouses,
and all of Dad’s siblings and spouses, Son-in-law George Safford, and numerous
nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Susan Safford; son Dan Krug;
Grandchildren Heather, Chad, and Brooke Safford, Great Grandson Dylan Litten.
Step Grandchildren Autumn (Brandon) Arlian, Misty Smith, and JD Mann, Step
Great Grandchildren Alexandra, Kolby, Adyson Kring, Ava Arlian, Sydney and Gwen
Smith, and Jayden Mann.
We would like to thank Billings Clinic Oncology and Infusion, Stillwater Hospice and
Visiting Angels for the care that was given to mom.
Funeral to be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 417 West 9
th St.
Laurel, Montana on January 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with interment at Laurel Cemetery.
