With heavy hearts we announce the death of Loren Dwayne Frank, who passed away peacefully at his home on May 24, 2024, at the age of 78.
Loren was born on January 25, 1946 in Billings, MT to Henry H. and Emma Frank. After graduating from Laurel High School in 1964, Loren farmed alongside his dad on the family farm. On February 7, 1976, Loren married the love of his life, Tancy. Together, they raised 4 wonderful children. He was also proud of his “adopted” daughters, Jene’ Reinhardt and Lacy Kircher, and was thankful to have a friend in Tom Robertus of 73 years.
Highlights of Loren’s life consisted of winning the Montana Outstanding Young Farmer’s award in 1979. He was a member of the Cove Ditch board and served as president for many years. He team roped as a heeler for 15 years and had his own arena in which he calf roped with the Wagner boys, who became lifelong friends. Loren was also in a bowling league and won a trip to Sweden from selling Hilleshog Mono-Hy beet seed.
But what Loren loved most in life was his family, especially his grandkids, the farm, the Los Angeles Dodgers and ice cream. Countless memories were shared on the farm with everyone that he knew. We don’t know of a nephew that didn’t work on the farm helping at some point in time. The family will always have fond memories of dad wearing his iconic cowboy hat while irrigating and doing field work. You could find him going to his children’s and grandkids’ extracurricular activities. He would never miss out on the yearly corn freezing either. His family is indebted to him as there could not be a better place to grow up.
You would find him every morning on the computer looking up the latest days happenings of his Dodgers. And would take naps so he could watch the late-night home games. Ice cream was always in the house and the ice cream shop called him “Sheriff”. Let’s not forget the countless family meals he cooked, along with cookies, sausage, and cabbage rolls, as well as peanut rolls, butter balls and noodles for Christmas.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. and Emma Frank; sister Dolores (Bob) Dietz, brother Bruce Frank; and brother-in-law Bill Huschka. He is survived by his wife, Tancy, children, Darla (Dan) Libby, Mindy (Josh) Robertson, Scott (Elly) Frank, Tyler (Sarah) Frank. Grandchildren, Lane and Kaleigh Robertson, Anna and Henry Frank, Eliza, Emma and Max Frank and three sisters, Darlene Huschka, Linda Calhoun, and Valorie (Jim) Kraft.
A Funeral Service to honor Loren’s life will be held on May 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 506 S 5th St, Laurel, MT 59044.
Loren, Dad, Daddy, Papa, Pop - Your journey has ended, but rest assured that you have a special place in many hearts. You will be dearly missed, but your legacy lives on in your family and all that knew you. We love you!
