Lilly Waddell Obituary

Lilly Ungefucht Waddell passed away November 14, 2015 after showing amazing strength and determination fighting off her chronic long term illness. She was born July 25, 1946 in Furstenzell Germany, the second daughter of Victor and Maria Serqienko Ungefucht. At the age of five Lily, her grandmother, father, mother and older sister traveled by ship to the United States. Her grandmothers' family sponsored them allowing them to make the voyage to America to start a new life. Lilly loved being involved with her children's and grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed taking part in celebrating their special moments. She attended 4-H events, dance performances for 40 years, and loved cheering each and every one of them on in their sporting events from the stands. Lilly and Alan loved going to the kid's school programs and getting to see their hard work pay off on their academic studies. She also treasured the outings with her husband, children, grandchildren and brother in-law Randy Waddell to the Bobcat games on the weekends. So many amazing memories were made during these times for all of them. She looked forward to taking trips to Portland to see her youngest son Justin and her sister Ella and brother-in law Leonard. Lilly and Justin shared a love of flowers and she was very proud of the amazing things he created. Everyone who knew and loved Lilly knew roses were her favorite and she was so proud of all the roses she had specifically picked out and planted over the years. Lilly adored the different seasons and all the holidays and enjoyed decorating her home and yard for them. All the holidays were special to her but this time of year was her favorite. Thanksgiving was a treasured time for family and friends. The door was always open and the more the merrier as far as she was concerned. Nothing made her happier than to have the 25-40 people at the house gathered around the table giving thanks together. She truly enjoyed making people happy. Lilly was able to travel back to Germany with her husband Alan and her sister Erna, this was a very special time for all of them. Lilly was able to see the town where she was born and visit the church where she was baptized. After returning, her sister Erna gave a wonderful gift and had the names of their grandmother, father, mother, Lillys' and her name all put on the Immigration Wall at Ellis Island where they first arrived in the United States. Lillys husband Alan, two of her children; all five of her grandchildren along with other members of her extended Waddell family were all able to travel to Ellis Island to share a very memorable visit to the wall and see the family names and experience the amazing history there. Lilly was very proud of her heritage and loved being able to be there to share that moment with everyone. Lilly is survived by her husband of 48 years Alan, her daughter Gina Hardy and her husband Tod and her granddaughters Ashlyn and Brielle, her son Edward Waddell and grandsons, John and Jack and granddaughter Lily and her son Justin Waddell. She is also survived by her sister Erna Wendorf and Ella Ostwalt and her brother in-law Leonard along with her brother-in laws and sister-in laws; Bob and Diana Finley, Gary and Pam Waddell, Randy Waddell and Dean and Sheila Waddell, her beloved nieces and nephews as well as her grand nieces and nephews and many treasured friends. We will always remember your incredible strength and your devotion to your family, we will forever love you! Memorial Services will be 10:30am Friday November 20, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel.
