Kimberly Wombolt Obituary

Kimberly "Kim" Mae Diedrich Wombolt, 56, of Laurel, went to be with Jesus after a long battle with multiple myeloma, cancer on Wednesday November 26, 2014. Kim was born on September 29, 1958 in Wolf Point, Montana to Lawrence "Jim" and DaNita "Jackie" (Daylong) Diedrich. Kim attended Billings' schools and graduated in 1976 from Billings West High School. She met her soul mate on the "Point" in Billings, Leonard Wombolt, and they married May 6, 1977. Together, they raised three children and made Laurel their home. Kim spent most of her time as a stay at home mom, doing the PTA thing, coaching girls' softball, and being a Daisy Girl Scout leader. When not being at home, she worked as a secretary and found her dream job at the Laurel Chamber of Commerce where she worked from 1995 to 2006, at which time she left in order to fight the cancer and get a stem cell transplant in Denver. While working at the Chamber, the Laurel community honored her with these awards: 1995 - Laurel Woman in Business of the Year; 2003 - Don Lenhart Memorial Award for Distinguished Service; 2005 - Special Service Award; and 2006 - 10+ Years of Service Award to the Laurel Chamber of Commerce. Kim's siblings tried to be her stem cell donor and her sister, Pam as chosen to go to Denver and give her the gift of life. This added more wonderful years to her life in which she was able to get to know her 11 grandchildren. She loved to fish and float the Yellowstone River with Leonard, and spending time at their cabin at Deadman's. She enjoyed sewing for family, crocheting, and doing all kinds of crafts. Kim loved working in her garden. She especially loved going out dancing on Friday nights. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 37 years, Leonard; children Mike Wombolt, Julie (Chris) Hust and Amanda (Gordon) Dennis; grandchildren, Dylan, Ethyn and Zoey Wombolt, Jocelynn Higgins, Kole and Maddy Hust, Alexis and Adam Henderson, Casey, Meagan and Josie Dennis; siblings Larry (Susan) Diedrich, Pam Diedrich (Perry Gliesman), and Dan Diedrich; her special cousins Jeanette Murray and Janice Rakitnichan; Step-mother Jane Diedrich; Step Grandmother Darlene Grinstine Westbrook as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special than you to Dr. Cobb of Frontier Cancer Center and Dr. Kevin McCrea of Laurel Medical Center for all their help and encouragement. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00pm Thursday December 4. 2014 and Funeral Services 10:00am Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laurel.
