Mark "Kid" Perkins, 56, a longtime resident of Powell, died unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday March 14, 2012. At the time of his passing, he had been 19 years old for more than 37 years. He was ugly and his mother dressed him funny. Kid was born October 20, 1955, in Amsterdam, N.Y. His parents were Bernard and Jo Anne Arndt. He was a roughneck, some would say he spent the majority of his working years on drilling rigs in Montana and Wyoming. For the past five years Kid owned and operated Kid's Pilot Car. Kid enjoyed his days on the road, spending time exploring the scenery and history of the places he'd traveled. The light of his life was his daughter, Gabrielle. Kid's passion was old motorcycles, and loved searching out and resonstructing vintage Indian and Harley Davidson bikes. Throughout his pursuit of vintage bike parts, he developed powerful bonds with other motorcycle enthusiasts all over the country, making friends wherever he went. Kid was a man of integrity and generosity, an encourager to his friends. He was a remarkable person who lived and died on his own terms and will be remembered as one-of-a-kind. Left to cherish Kid's memory is his daughter; adopted mother Jeanie Pearl; sisters Debbie Allred and Amy Ardt; brothers Bruce and Todd and many, many friends. Funeral Services were held 9:30am Thursday March 22, 2012 at St. Barbara Catholic Church with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery.
