Kenneth “Kenny” Wade Benner was born on January 7th, 1958 to Jack and Charlotte (Mitchell) Benner of Park City, MT. He was the second youngest along with 3 sisters…Christene, Laura and Maria. While growing up he attended Park City School.
Throughout life, Ken had many career opportunities in the Billings area, but his gift of relating to and knowing others allowed him to excel in sales. For the last 15 years, he successfully owned and operated his own “hot shot” business which he took great pride in.
Ken had many hobbies in life that he was passionate about; in his younger years he would have been considered an avid biker as he loved to ride his motorcycle, also a bit of a dare devil as he enjoyed flying his powered parachute, his love for art was eclectic but very tasteful, among all the adventures he took time to smell the roses and enjoy a hike, fish a mountain stream, take photos of majestic scenery, relish antiques in a museum and find the best ice cream. His greatest adventures would be later in life as a grandpa where he cherished sharing his love for life and the outdoors with his daughter and grandchildren whom he adored. Amidst the thrills in life, Ken also had a very soft side with a big heart; he was always finding a way to help those less fortunate
In January of 2023, Ken was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He spent the last 7 months of his life facing this diagnosis with grace, dignity and courage. The battle came with many obstacles along the way, but he chose to make the best of each day not knowing when tomorrow would be the last. On August 23rd, 65 years young, Ken left this life on earth peacefully passing in his own home. He was blessed to have one of his best friends, Greg Howell, by his side. While the adventures here on earth may have come to an end, it is without a doubt that he will carry on from heaven and continue to guide us all with his big-hearted love.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother Charlotte Benner, grandparents Jacob and Mary Benner, Victor and Hattie Mitchell. He is survived by his father Jack Benner, daughter Nicole (Adam Rice) Sargent, grandchildren Remington, Madison, Greyson and bonus grandchildren Titus and Hollis; sister Christene (Tom) Lowell, nephews Eric (Kristi) Lowell and Bryce Lowell, niece Shelley (Ryan) Erickson; sister Laura (Doug) Thormahlen, nieces Erin (Hank) Krause, Tamara (Kevin) Zeigler; sister Maria (Duane) Peters, nieces Darcy (Jake) Manuel and Nichole (Tyler) Christensen and nephew Lyle (Kayleen) Peters. He had many great nieces and nephews that he enjoyed cheering on through their athletic endeavors…and didn’t hesitate to offer his two cents where the officiating was concerned. His presence will be forever missed.
Memorial for Ken Benner will be held on Thursday, August 31st at 10 AM at Park City Baptist Church (202 1St Ave. SW, Park City, MT). Lunch will be served following the memorial at the Civic Center in Park City. Family and friends are invited and welcome to join us in celebrating his life!
Memorials can be made to the Montana Rescue Mission or if you would like to plant a tree in his memory.
