Kenneth was born April 30, 1935 to Sigvald and Nora (Gunderson)Hanson in Livingston.. He lost his battle with cancer on the 11th of December 2010 surrounded by his family at Seeds of Love assisted care. He was raised and graduated from Livingston. After graduation from High School, he went on to college to get a degree in architecture but decided to join the Marines and headed to Korea. Ken always said the, "Marine Corp saved his life". He married Lovie Koch on July 9, 1960 at the American Lutheran Church in Livingston. Together they raised three children.Ken worked for a short time with the Livingston Police Department as a patrolman then joined his dad in the construction business with Hanson and Hartman COnstruction. In 1960, he joined the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and was the Chief of the Park County Rural Fire District #1 in 1975. Later he worked for Yellowstone National Park as a fire inspector and was a crew boss during the 1988 fire season. Ken also worked with the Lowry Funeral Home in Livingston. He was a lifelong member of the American Lutheran Church, a dedicated member of the Lions Club and Livingston Model Railroad. Ken was voted Man of the Year in 1980 by the Livingston Enterprise. Besides his family, he had three passions, The Marines, trains and model railroading and fire and emergency services. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Norman; sister Gertrude Amann and two brother inlaws. Surviving Kenneth Hanson is his wife Lovie; three children,Alan (Debbie) Hanson, David Hanson and Lorene (Russ) Bailey; a sister Agnes Bennett; four grandchildren, Kevin and Elizabeth hanson, KayDee Bailey and Karlene Bailey; brother-in-laws Bill Koch and Dave (Sharon) Koch; two special aunts and a uncle, Lois Lee, Dixie (Bill) Stein and Ernie Firmature; numerous neices and nephews and special friends from the fire station, trian club and the marines. A memorial gathering will take place at 1:30PM December 30, 2010 at the Park COunty Fairgrounds.
