Kathleen Mohr Obituary

On January 10, 2024, our beloved mother, Kathleen Weiss Mohr, succumbed to an abdominal aneurysm at 84 years of age.  Kathy, as she was known to friends, or “Kack”, as her family endeared to her, was born August 19, 1939 in Helena, Montana to Edward Frederick and Regina Marie (Brisbin) Weiss.  Her early life was filled with trips to the family cabin in Nelson, learning to hunt and fish with her father and activities with her seven siblings.  Kathy was raised in the Episcopal Church, excelled in the Junior National Rifle Association, was a Jobs Daughter member, an excellent seamstress, a good swimmer and loved to water ski on Canyon Ferry Lake.  She played the flute in school, graduating from Helena High School in 1957.

Kathy attended Montana State College-now MSU Bozeman - for one year hoping to become a Home Economics teacher, but real life economics brought her to Billings the next year for work.  On a blind date, she met Martin Mohr and they were married November 26, 1960 in Helena.  She became a full time working farm-wife, a mother to four children and spent 25 years in the postal service, 20 of those years as Park City’s Postmaster.  She diligently maintained three older rental homes in Park City she had purchased with her earnings.  Kathy was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls and apple pies.  She worked tirelessly and was proud of her family and accomplishments.  She was the best mother and loved her grandchildren beyond measure.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, her parents, sisters Jean Weiss Bolduc and Shirley Weiss, brothers, Edward and Ronald Weiss, nephew Justin Robbe and son-in-law Timothy Kober.

Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her children, Sharon (Wayne Roller) Mohr DVM, Douglas (Surina Kumaran) Mohr, Timothy (Leslie Thomson) Mohr and Steven Mohr; Siblings Thomas Weiss (Mary Matule), Mark Weiss (Jeanne O’Donnell), Margaret (Clyde) Robbe; grandchildren Zachary and Seth Kober, Leela (Ian) Sullivan, Sitara and Abbey Mohr; special sister-in-law Gretchen Reitz Weiss and brother in-law Richard Bolduc.  Kathy is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation has taken place per Kathy’s wishes. She will be interned in the Park City Cemetery next to Martin.  A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held in the spring when the nature she loved, especially birds and flowers, is awakened.  Thank you to everyone who made Kathy’s life special.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church P.O.Box 188 Park City, Montana 59063, or the Special K Ranch, 34 Special K Lane, Columbus, Montana 59019
