Karen Wyant Obituary

Karen Wyant, a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 81.  Karen Arlene Humble was born in Rapid City, SD on April 6, 1942 to Edward and Lucille Humble.  Her exceptional work ethic stemmed from growing up on the family ranch near Mud Butte, SD.  Karen married Larry Joe Wyant on October, 1, 1959 and raised three children.  While traveling for Larry’s journeymen lineman career, Karen experienced living in Louisiana, Kansas, Texas, and Missouri, before settling in Montana near Laurel in 1976.

Karen had a creative eye for detail that was revealed over the years in her numerous sewing and leather projects.  She shared her talent for leather work as a 4-H leader and taught her daughter, Rita, to sew at a young age.  Her perfectionist character was seen as a Quality Control Inspector at Boise Cascade and during her employment with Big Sky Woodcrafters putting the final touches on wood items.  Karen’s passion for gardening shined in the landscaping at her home, where she and her son, Ronnie, worked together to create a beautiful setting.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Karen is survived by her children, Russ (Rhonda) Wyant, Rita Ferrell, Ronnie Wyant;  5 grandchildren, Robert Ferrell, Ryan (Bradee) Ferrell, Britnee (Andy) Olsen, Cody (Michelle) Wyant, Kenzi Wyant; 8 great-grand children, Brooke Stutzer, Rachel, Jace, Heidee and Hollee Ferrell, Mason Nelson, Waylon and Gentry Wyant; sister, Donna (Alton) Palmer;  brothers, Ed (Connie) Humble,  Bruce (Diane) Humble, and Galen (Vickie) Humble; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lucille Humble; her husband, Larry Wyant; son-in-law, Wayne Johnson;  sisters-in-law, Lou Schuelke and Mary Wyant; brothers-in-law,  Jerry Schuelke and Patrick Wyant.
