Joyce Schmidt was born July 24, 1928 to John and Jessie (Mason) Higgins in Ismay, Montana. She was raised and attended schools in Ismay, graduating from high school in 1945. She married Richard "Dick" Schmidt December 24, 1945 before Dick shipped-out to Germany during WWII. Together they had four children. The family lived in Rosebud until 1959 when they moved to Terry. In 1964, they again moved to Baker and later to Moore, Montana where Dick was superintendent of schools. Joyce spent much of her time raising her family and being a devoted wife. She went to work at First Bank while living in Moore and later she worked at US Bank in Billings after they had moved to Park City. They built their dream home near the golf course in Laurel where Joyce enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was especially known for her beautiful flower gardens. Joyce had wonderful neighbors who helped out immensely. She was blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and spent much of her time with them. On Monday January 31, 2011, Joyce died at her home with daughter Nancy and son in-law Rich at her side. She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Rich) Seymour, Gloria Schmidt, and Marilyn (Tim) Snyder; brother Buck Higgins; sister Pearl Higgins; sister in-law June Higgins; grandchildren Jeff (Robin) Seymour, Jon (Heidi) Semour, Alana Vosen, Devon Crane, Ariel Johnson; seven great-grandchildren Paige, Logan, Evan, Eastan, Aubrey, Austin and Aiden.
