John Nelsen Obituary

John was born 1/13/1933 in Great Falls Montana to Herman and Maryden Nelsen. He was raised on a farm in Fairfield and attended grade school at Greenfield and graduated with honors from Fairfield High.

He attended Southern California Bible Inst for a year and was drafted into the army in 1953. He married JoAnn Shelton in 1955 and they had four children. Steve, Tim, Jill and Joye.

John's Faith in God was very important to him. He had a heart for Missions and made trips to Oaxaca Mexico, Tahiti and Panama to use his many skills to help build churches.

John apprenticed as an electrician with his uncle Carrol Dahlstrom in Billings. He received a Master Electrician License in Great Falls, Montana. He was a member of Local #532 Union. He opened his own Electrical Shop in Ronan Montana. He went to work for Amco Electric on the Minute Man Missile's when they came to Great Falls area. He continued on as foreman and traveled to many different places following the work. They moved to Tucson, Arizona where he worked on the Hubbel telescope at Kitt Peak.He received the Craftsman of the year award presented by Billings Architect Association in 1971 for his outstanding work on Logan Airport.

He is survived by wife, JoAnn, children Stephen (Robin) Nelsen, Tim Nelsen, Jill (Dean) Hodges, Joye (Daryl) Recanati. 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Service will be had 11:00 Monday at Parkhill Assembly of God in Billings.

Memorials may be made to Parkhill Assembly of God Church or Clydehurst Christian Ranch.
