John W. Mohr

John W. Mohr, 82, passed away on December 31, 2010 in his home with his family at his side. He was born on June 22, 1928 in Park City and was baptized July 29, 1928 by Pastor Waltz at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in St. Paul's on May 22, 1943. John graduated from Park City School in 1946. He married Betty Besel on September 6, 1952. They farmed together and raised their six children. John was an honest man who was there to help his family and neighbors. John continued to attend church regulary and had a strong faith that he shared with his family. John was an active member of the community and served on numerous boards including Park City School Board, the Big Ditch and Laurel Co-Op Boards. John helped start the Park City FFA program while serving on the School Board. When he semi-retired, John drove school bus for Park City Schools. In later years, John wrote a book about his life and the history of Park City as he remembered it. Mr. Mohr was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents John Jr. and Katherine Mohr, twin brother James and brother Paul. He is survived by his sister MaryAnn (Duane) Guethner and brothers Martin (Kathy) Mohr and Harry (Sharon) Mohr; children John L. Mohr, Linda (Allen) Sipes, Sam (Donna) Mohr, Tom (Carla) Mohr, Ron Mohr and Don Mohr; grandchildren Amanda, Dan, Andy, Justin, Ryan, Alyssa, Nicole, Addy, Jonathan, Sydney, Blake and Serena. Memorial Services will be 10:00AM Tuesday January 4, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
