John Fastenau Obituary

John (Jack) Fastenau, 80 years of age of Reed Point passed October 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends in person and in heart. Jack was born October 26, 1933 to Conrad and Lorna Fastenau. Jack served his country honorably in the US Army from January 1954 to January 1956 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Jack married the love of his life, Jean Stroud on December 9, 1958. They started their lives together farming and ranching in Eagle, Idaho. Their life was an adventure taking them to many areas including California, Idaho, Montana and Colorado. Jack farmed, ranched, worked for the California hay growers, Idaho fish hatchery and for 30 plus years was a diesel mechanic. John R. Fastenau is survived by his wife Jean E. Fastenau; their three children, daughter, Kris (Monty) Fleharty, son, Bob (Krista) Fastenau and daughter, Jackie (Tyler) Armstrong. His grandchildren, Mitch Fleharty, Lacy (Loren) Bangert, Charlee (Austin) McKay, Leland Fastenau, Jessica Auger, Chase Auger, Tyler John Armstrong, Colton Armstrong, Meilyn Armstrong and his brother William (Bill) Fastenau. A memorial service and brunch will be held November 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Reed Point Evangelical Church. Donations can be made to the Reed Point Evangelical Church Food Bank, the Columbus Senior Center or a charity of your choice. Interment to follow memorial at the Grass Range Cemetery at approximately 4:00 pm with gathering to follow.
