Joan (Terwilliger) Everson, 68, passed away quietly on April 23 after a breif illness. She was born on May 16, 1940 in Ashland, Wisconsin, grew up in Virqua, Wisconsin and lived most of her adult life in Absarokee, Montana. She is survived by her three children Cathy (Kevin) Krook, Glen (Corrine) Everson and Porsche Everson (Patty Chandler), five grandchildren, Maggie, Annie, Ethan, Cody and Cori; sister Jeannie; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a twin brother Jim. It is hard to condense a lifetime into a few words. Joan did what she had to do to raise her family, and taught them well the value of hard work, loyalty, honesty and compassion. She worked as a checker, house cleaner, caregiver/aide, and for many years as a bartender at the Chrome Bar, where she will always be remembered for keeping potentially rowdy patrons in line with a single raised eyebrow and a fixed stare. Many there will remember her famous off-color quote involving John Wayne. Joan lived a straight forward life focused on raising and caring for her family and "other kids" who also benefited from her grace and wisdom. For a time, she enjoyed collecting and reselling antiques. What she most enjoyed, however, was visitng with friends and family, and her place was regularly the center of many conversations and meals.
At Joan's request, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Absarokee Community Swimming Pool Association. (PO Box 404, Absarokee, MT 59001)
