Jacob (Jack) Benner died on September 21, 2023 in the same home he was born in on
August 16, 1934. Jack attended Park City Schools and was an outstanding football
player. He graduated in 1953 and married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte
Mitchell, on October 24, 1954. He was proud of his wife and always said he married the
most amazing woman! To this union four children were welcomed: Christene, Laura,
Kenneth and Maria.
After the death of his father, Jack took over the family farm. Farming was a hard life, but
through hard work, the Grace of God, and a pure stubborn spirit, they prevailed. Jack
and Charlotte farmed together side by side, hand in hand, for 52 years until the Lord
called Charlotte home in 2007. Together they enjoyed raising crops, cattle, and found
joy in every season. You could always find Jack out in the field in the spring, digging in
the soil with his pocketknife to see if the seeds had sprouted and inspecting his straight
crop rows. He enjoyed taking a drive to the hills, with Charlotte and their grandchildren.
He loved summer family BBQ’s when all his children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren would join. He enjoyed the company of his dogs (Ponco and Lucky)
because “a farm isn't a farm without a dog”!
Throughout life, Jack admired his wife’s faith, and in his final days, professed the
goodness of our Lord to all who visited, including his many grandchildren and great
grandchildren. He now rests in heaven with his wife Charlotte, whom he waited years to
join. Son, Kenneth, Parents, Jacob and Mary, Siblings, Helen, Bernice, Betty, Walter, and
John. He is survived by his children Christene (Tom) Lowell, Laura (Doug) Thormahlen
both of Park City and Maria (Duane) Peters of Sidney. Grandchildren: Eric (Kristi)
Lowell, Bryce Lowell, Shelley (Ryan) Erickson, Erin (Hank) Krause, Tamara (Kevin)
Ziegler, Nicole (Adam Rice) Sargent, Darcy (Jacob) Manuel, Lyle (Kayleen) Peters,
Nichole (Tyler) Christensen, and 21 Great Grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be Friday September 29 at 10:00 AM at Park City Baptist Church with
a reception to follow at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Park City Baptist Church.
