Helen Reidelbach Obituary

Helen May Reidelbach, 103, passed away December 9, 2020 at Tendernest Assisted Living in Laurel.

Helen was born to Daniel and Julia Racz on July 5, 1917 in Laurel.  She had 8 siblings. 6 deceased and 2 still living.

She lived on a farm around Boyd where she went to Long Tree Country School.  She left home at an early age when she moved to Laurel to help a family with their children and cleaning.

Helen  married William Frederick Baldwin and moved to Red Lodge.  They had 5 children together, Nina Steyee, Clara Stiller and Glenn Baldwin and 2 boys who passed away at a very early age.  They later moved to Joliet where her husband herded sheep until he passed away in 1955.  She then cleaned houses and businesses to support her family.  She later married Art Shandy and they ran a hotel in Livingston until they moved to Joliet after they bought and later sold a hotel there.  After he passed away, she moved to Red Lodge where she worked at the local hospital in the kitchen and cleaning for many years.  She moved to Big Timber after she married Pete Reidelbach and then they moved to Livingston, where they resided until Pete died.  Helen went back to work at the hospital in Red Lodge until she decided to  move back to Laurel to work at the Laurel Rehab center until she retired.

Helen loved to crochet, sew and read western books.  She was a great cook and baker.  Helen was a very feisty Hungarian lady who truly loved her children, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Red Lodge Cemetery.
