Helen Peterson

Helen Peterson, 85, went home to be with Lonnie and her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2020 after complications from a stroke.

Helen was born to the late Adolf and Lois Jenkins Kornelis Larson in Columbus, MT on April 28, 1934. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1953 and attended Lakewood Park Bible School in Devils Lake, ND. While at Bible School she began a courtship with Lonnie Peterson from Billings, MT. They became engaged at Christmas 1953 and they married June 24, 1954. Together they pastored Assembly of God Churches in Forman, ND (1955-1956), twice in Columbus, MT (1957-1963 and 2008-2014) and 35 years in Laurel, MT (1963-1998).

She is survived by her three children Contrella, Timothy (Sybil) and Paul (Sherry); her eight grandchildren Andrew (Amy), Nicholas, Sheree Daniel (Shawn), Tyler (Becca), Alisha Whitis (Richie), Travis, Sean (Amanda), and Stefanie; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie, parents, brother Bob and sisters Shirley and Virginia.

Helen enjoyed her family, cooking, knitting, Women’s Ministries, music, and many friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bella Terra for their wonderful care of Helen. A private family burial will be held at the Columbus Cemetery.
