Gladys McLarnon, 99, of Laurel passed away Saturday March 23, 2013 at her home surrounded by family. She was just shy of her 100th birthday. Gladys was born to Russell and Julia Hoagland on June 27, 1913 on the family homestead north of Terry, Montana, with five brothers. As a young girl she started teaching school north of Terry and later taught at Rockvale, Byam, Park City and third grade in Laurel. She married Paul McLarnon on February 16, 1935. Together they traveled all 50 states. She was active in outdoor events with family and friends, also enjoyed bowling, golf, horseback riding and playing cards. She crocheted afghans for her grandkids and pieced together many colorful quilts. As she got older she enjoyed watching bull riding on television. Gladys was a very witty and fun lady, always liked a good joke. She is survivied by her daughters Judy (Jay) and Marilee (Buck); nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; sister in-law Vena Hoagland. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, son Darold, granddaughter Patricia, son in-law Pat Reed and all of her brothers. A Rosary Service is planned for 7:00pm Wednesday March 27, 2013 with a Memorial Mass following at 10:00am Thursday March 28, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laurel.
