Gerald Sickles, 85, died Friday December 27, 2013 in Laurel. He was born south of Bridgewater, Iowa to Cledes and Edna (Williams) Sickles. Following graduation from High School in 1947 he worked as a farm hand. In 1950 Gerald served in the Korean War with the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married the love of his life, Janet Ruth on February 25, 1953, together they raised four children. He retired in 1994 from Schilberg's Construction where he worked as a Core Driller in the Mining Industry before moving to Laurel, Montana. Gerald enjoyed elk hunting, helping area friends with harvest on the farm during the year. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years Janet; children Carlene (Ron) Maeder, Reginald Sickles, Brian (Karin Kalfut) Sickles and Joel Sickles; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family and many friends. Memorial Services will be 10:30am Wednesday January 1, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel. Interment will be held later in Greenfield, Iowa spring of 2014.
