George Washington Safford

George W. Safford, 55, passed away unexpectedly Thursday June 10, 2010 in Laurel. He was born February 18, 1955 to George and Mary (LaPier) Safford in Helena. The family moved to Billings where George graduated from West High School in 1974. He married Kim Cleasby in 1975 and to this union a daughter was born. They later divorced. George married Susan Krug on September 4, 1982 and to this union three children were born. George was a carpenter and worked numerous jobs during his lifetime. He was working with Majestic Homes at the time of his death. He was a very loving and giving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and truly enjoyed archery and NASCAR. His favorites were Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. George loved his dogs. Left to cherish George's memory is his wife Susan; children Autumn (Kyle) Kring, Heather (Dale) Litten II, Chad Safford and Brooke Safford; mother Mary Safford; mother in-law Lydia Krug; sisters Rosie (Jack) Foti, Elsa (Don) Brzowski,Nora (Bill) Conway and Peggy Klein; brother in-law Dan Krug; four grand children and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and many good friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00PM Wed June 16, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Laurel.
