Frank Edward Tuss,81, of Lewistown died Mar 11, 2007 surrounded by his family. Frank was born Sept 24, 1925 in Winifred to John and Johanna Tuss. Following High School in 1944, Frank served in the US Infantry in the European Theater of Operations under General Patton. He saw the General once and at that time Patton told the men they would take Berlin even if he had to bring back a box of dog tags. After V-E Day, Frank did guard duty at Dachau, Czechoslovakia, and also transported prisoners to the Nuremberg War Trials. In one week, he saw Garmish, Oberammergau, Paris, Munich, Cologne and other interesting places. Mr. Tuss was released from the Army in 1946. After returning from the war, he worked on a ranch for several years, later joining his parents in Lewistown. Frank worked at the US Gypsum plant at Heath and retired in 1982 after 34 years. He met the love of his life, Barbara Beedie, in 1949 and they were married in 1953 and enjoyed 41 wonderful years of marriage. Frank and Barbara had four children, William, Gerard, Nancy and Robert. Barbara passed away in June of 1994. Frank visited her gravesite almost daily for many years, never remarrying. He enjoyed gardening and working in his workshop building windmills, benches and planters, most of which he gave away. Frank was an active member of St Leos Parish for over 50 years. He will be remembered as a generous person who cared deeply for those around him, placing himself last and would do anything for anyone who needed help. A Vigil Service will be Weds at 8:00PM at St Leos Catholic Church in Lewistown with Funeral Mass at 2:00PM Thurday.
