Florrine E. (Just) Valent

A kind and loving heart stopped beating on April 29, 2025 at the young age of 93. Florrine was born in New Salem, ND on September 11, 1931 to Martin Just and Elsie Joersz Just. She joined three older brothers and later one more brother joined the family. She was adored as the only sister and they all called her ‘Sis’. When nieces and nephews came along, they thought that was her name, and she became ‘Aunt Sis’.

She graduated in New Salem with the class of 1949. Following high school, she and four friends decided to travel and work in several different states. She married Donald Valent September 22, 1963. They built a wonderful life together. In their early marriage, they enjoyed square dancing and later took up golf, which became their passion. The loved to fish in Canada every fall and in later years went south each winter to Needles, CA.

Florrine and Don never had children of their own so she adored all her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She never saw a child that she didn’t stop to visit with. In 2021, they moved to Laurel, MT to be near family. She loved being with nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was so proud of all their accomplishments and loved watching their sports and plays. She was so excited to be a part of the large Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter celebrations as well as many family dinner nights. She and Don enjoyed some big birthdays in MT. She loved all the kids and enjoyed a special bond with great-great nephew Jonah. She said he came into her life when she truly needed him, as she was trying to adjust to the biggest move of her life. They loved playing hide and seek with the birthday mouse. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was very quick witted. People adored her where ever she went.

Her family left to miss her are her husband Don, nieces Roberta Weninger and Marla Connors, nephew Doug Just and their families. Those who greeted her in Heaven were her parents and brothers Lloyd, Clarence, Gilbert and Warren.

We are so glad we got to spend the last four years with you in our daily lives. You’ve left a big hole in our hearts. We love you!
