ELIZABETH EVEYLN (BOICE) CHANDLER, 84, Billings, died June 10, 2007. She was born May 23, 1923 in Troutdale, Oregon to Earl and Katherine (Mulligan) Boice. Elizabeth married Melvin Chandler April 19, 1942 and settled in Grand View, ID. Ms. Chandler later moved to Lewiston, ID where she attended Lewis and Clark College earning her teaching degree and raising her 2 youngest daughters.
She was a woman of strength and determination. In 1974 she moved to Custer County where she taught at the SH School, Riverview, Powder River, Pine Creek and Cat Creek Schools. She was a long time resident of the Miles City area, later moving to Billings in 1998.
She loved the country and often located fossils and petrified wood during her cherished walks. Elizabeth also enjoyed watching wildlife and playing the organ.
Ms. Chandler was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. She is survived by four daughters; Bonnie Watson of AL; Barbara (Marvin) Haylett of Payett, ID; Ruth (Dan) Ferris of Billings; Rita (Andrew) Miller of Worland, WY; a brother Norman (Jean) Boice of Roseville, CA; a sister Helen Clint of Portland, OR; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Elizabeth had a loving spirit that touched many people especially during her battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Memorial Services will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church, 2032 Central Ave. at 1:00pm Friday June 15, 2007.
Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
