Edna Agnes Sanner Obituary

Edna was born November 16, 1925 to Lucille and Homer, peanut farmers in Oklahoma. They survived the Great Depression. She was the oldest of 11 children, and grew up helping her parents tend to the farm, and help raise her younger siblings. When she was a young woman, it was war time, and there were jobs to be had to help with war efforts. Edna left her farm and home in Oklahoma to travel across the country with her brother Glen to work on the ship docks in Washington, where she worked as a riveter/welder. The workers all lived together in tiny houses, all working and living this exciting adventure, helping their country. Uncle Glen had a great buddy he met there. He thought the world of him... until this friend showed interest in his beloved sister. No man was good enough for his sister Edna. It was there she met Raymond , and fell in love, much to her brother's disapproval. Edna and Ray were married September 16, 1945 and made their way to Montana to start a family. Ray had two children from a previous marriage, Jimmie, and Jerry. Ray & Edna had 4 children together, Maidia, four years later Eddy, four years later Finis, and one year later Timothy. As a family they raised their children and were business owners in Custer, Hardin, Roundup, finally settling in Billings. They ran cafAC.'s in all of these towns, were active in magazine sales and Con Stan, earning family trips to Egypt & Greece during the 1960's. They lived their life in service to their family, their community, their church. All of us children & grandchildren worked for them at the Hungry Bear CafAC. during the 1970's and 1980's. After they sold the business, Grandpa's health began to fail, she took care of him, and all of us for the remainder. She worked for years after retirement at the Billings Senior and Community Center, continuing to give of herself to her community, always tending to others. She did not officially retire from employment until this last summer at age 90. Edna went home on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1600, just 4 days before her 91st birthday. When the Angels came to get her, the family members who have gone before came with them to take her home. When she saw her sister Daisy, she spoke her name... and let go. Just as Jesus said, "It is done." I can only imagine in that moment, the joy of seeing them all and Jesus, the Lord she honored all of her days, had to be like none other. She waited a very long time to see her sons, her parents, her siblings, her Lord. She made it, she fought the good fight, ever faithful and diligent in her works, her loyalty to God and her family. She did it for us. We are honored to be hers. She survived by her children, Maidia (Jim), Tim, Jimmie (Mary), Jerry (Shirley), three brothers, one sister, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Thank you God for giving her to us for a long as you did. Some day we will all be together again, and your family will be reunited once again. A Celebration of Edna's life will be held 11:00am Saturday at the Billings Senior Community Center, 360 N. 23rd Street.
