Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 17th, 2024.
Dwain Frickel was born June 10th, 1949, to William and Violet Frickel, joining brothers Bob, Dennis, twin sister Darlene, and later being joined by Dean. He was raised in Laurel, Montana, graduating from Laurel High School.
In 1973 he met the love of his life, Debra, and they married in 1978. From that union came kids Les, Amber, Aerin, Tyler, Alisha, Nick, Stacy and Summer. Together they raised their family in Laurel and later in Park City, enjoying a total of 51 years together. Over this time, Dwain worked for the Burlington Northern/Montana Rail Link. He loved his work, but his true joy was his family. His wife and he spent their years raising a large family on their farm, raising animals and teaching the kids all about 4H. He was a hands-on dad, who truly enjoyed every moment raising his kids, teaching them everyday things, helping with all their activities and life skills. They all grew up knowing that whatever they needed, he was there for them. He participated and truly enjoyed every moment with his family. He was blessed with a large family, and he especially enjoyed his later years as all his grandkids joined the family. He was a papa to a lot of kids, but not just his own, as all extended family’s kids loved him as their own as well.
Dwain is survived by his wife of 46 years Debra, kids Les, Amber (John), Aerin (Jason), Tyler (Melissa), Alisha (Missy), Nick, Stacy, and Summer; 17 grandchildren Keenan (Daniel), Kristi (Cody), Michael (Josie), Madyson, Myleigh, Kadince, Alex, Weston, Cane, Cambrie, Lilly, Barbara, Bentley, Layton, Avielle and Mason; and 5 great-grandchildren Emmett, Brooke, Emory, Bridger, and Sabrina, as well as another great grandson on the way. He’s also survived by his siblings Bob, Dennis, Darlene, and Dean, sisters in law Cheri and Jami, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. During his life, he made numerous lifelong friends, who share in the family's grief in missing him. He is so loved by a large family that will miss him every day, but who will treasure every memory together. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dwain had a long battle with his health in recent years, but still managed to enjoy every day with his family. He rarely complained, but we know the daily suffering he was in. We will forever miss him, but we are happy to know that he is with the Lord and no longer in pain.
A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for 1:00 pm Saturday November 23, 2024 at the Laurel Masonic building (Corinthian No. 72 AF & AM) on Airport Road.
