Douglas Steele, 94, of Billings died May 17, 2009. He was born on December 11, 1914 to Walter and Callie (Dossett) Steele.
Douglas grew up and attended school in Winthrop, Arkansas. At 24 years of age he married Mary Thomas, together they had two children; Dearl and Mary. In 1964 he married Jean McPherson. They had one son; David.
Douglas worked on the farm, and later as a driller on oil rigs in Wyoming and Montana. He also worked as a carpenter at Old Faithful and Mammoth Lodges in Yellowstone National Park, Yellow Tail Dam and John Day Dam. Douglas was a member of the Eagles' Lodge for over forty years.
Mr. Steele is survived by his wife Jean of forty-three years; son David (Sharon) of Lake Mary, Fl.; eight grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, his first wife Mary and their children, Mary and Dearl and one grandchild. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00AM Friday May 22nd at the Remington Funeral Chapel of Laurel with a luncheon at the Owl CafAC. following services.
