Dorothy Anne (Howe) Pfeifle Gruver, 80, of Billings, passed away on Tuesday September 22, 2020 due to Covid -19 that she had contracted at a rehabilitation facility after hip surgery. She was born April 28, 1940 in Plevna, Montana, the daughter of Leonard and Myrtle (Munyon) Howe. Dorothy graduated from Baker High School in 1958. She married Bernell Pfeifle in September 1958. Dorothy and Bernell owned the Dahlman Motel, Green Acres Club, King Koin Laundry and Pfeifle Construction in Baker. They also lived in Dillon, for several years. In 1989, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Dorothy was a hard worker. While living in Las Vegas she sold real estate and later worked at Walmart, Physician’s Medical Center and the MGM-Mirage. In February 1995 Bernell passed away. Dorothy married Clair Gruver in 2005. Clair died June 2019. In her younger years, she loved to roller skate, bowl, dance, party and gamble.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Randy (Kathi) Pfeifle of Billings, Rhonda (Jay) Stewart of Lewistown and Robert (Kolene) Pfeifle of Las Vegas; Dorothy is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Ty, Robert, Nicholas, Shaylea, Jayme, Zane and Steven and one great grandson, Axton; a sister, Betty Stroud of Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Esther Howe of Texas and Paulette Ellis of Idaho along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and her husbands.
Cremation has taken place, no services are planned per Dorothy’s wishes.
