Dolly Allan

Margaret "Dolly" Allan walked in the ways of Jesus for more than 75 years and then on October 23, 2011 she nodded off to sleep assured that she would wake in wonder at His feet. She was born August 4, 1921 in Comertown, Montana to John and Imo Nelson but lived the vast majority of her life in Laurel. August 4, 1940 she married Gordon Allan and after some short stays in various places during the war years they set-up house keeping on Third Avenue in Laurel permanently. The fabric of Dolly's life was woven around her faith, family and all was stitched together in so many ways by her love of music. The child rearing years for her were filled with church, school, and community activities. To fill in after children, Dolly found creative outlet and satisfaction painting in oils. Dolly is survived by her son Doug and daughters Barbara (Dave) Fischer, Betty (Dale) Whitmore, and Lorraine (John) Arnold plus 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Her special friend Bonnie Flanigan has been a treasure in Dolly's later life. Three brothers, a sister and husband Gordon preceded her in death. A Celebration of Dolly's life will be held 11:00am Tuesday November 1, 2011 at the United Methodist Church of Laurel.
