DeLola Ward Obituary

DeLola Bernice "Tot" Ward, 95, died following a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born December 12, 1914 in Onyx, Arkansas, the second of 6 children, to A.Y. and Cordelia (Utley) Cox. As a child DeLola was small for her age and was known to friends and family as "Tot". She married Luke Ward in Checotah, OK on February 17, 1936. They moved to the Big Hole Valley in Montana and raised their children, Andy Wayne and Bobbie Lou there. Tot cooked on ranches in the Big Hole for many years and was a waitress at the old 4-B's cafe across from the Montana Territorial Prison in Deer Lodge. She retired from Silver BOw County as a home helath care provider. Over the years she and Luke lived in Wisdom, Deer Lodge, Anaconda, Butte and Hamilton. They moved to East Helena to be where the fish were! Following Luke's death, Tot returned to Deer Lodge and eventually to assited living in Billings. Tot had many hobbies, but she loved to fish; wheather in a boat, by a stream or in a lawn chair bysome water somewhere- Left to cherish Tot's memory are her daughter Bobbie Lefler of Laurel; sisterJean Callison of Anaconda; sister-in-law Ruth Cox of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren Yvonne Adams, Lesle Wright, Cassandra Richardson, Jess Ward, Scott Bennett, Terri Jo Johnson and Shannon Cabbage; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great great granchildren; and many nieces and nephews. SHe was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband Luke; a son Andy; siblings Orea Leavitt, Geneva Allen, Robert Cox and Kathryn Phillips

A Celebration of Tot's life will be held at a later date in Anaconda.
