On August 24, 2016, Daisy Louise Watson quietly slipped home to the waiting arms of the Lord. Daisy was born on May 3, 1936, in Havre, MT, the oldest of James and Minnie Simpson's 6 children. She grew up near Loman, MT, on the farm that her grandfather, John Simpson, homesteaded. He was the first white settler on the Milk River. She was close to John and her great-grandfather, Jasper Maze; they inspired her life-long interest in genealogy. She left home for a job near Gildford, MT, as a hired girl for Earl and Audrey Watson, as well as to start high school. When the men came in from the fields on her first day, she hid behind the refrigerator, peeking out to see. Among the crew was a tall, gentle, very strong man - Earl's oldest brother, Glennon. Just after her 17th birthday, Daisy and Glennon were married. Their union was blessed with 8 children. She often joked that on their farm they raised wheat, cattle and kids. Life on the farm involved hard work and long hours, but they were successful. She made time for her children's activities, once hauling 17 animals to the Hill County fair for 4-H competitions. She was very supportive of her children's education and athletics, and was always there to cheer them on at basketball games and track meets and sat through years of plays and concerts, among other things. After most of her daughters had graduated and gone on to college, she started taking classes at college, most notably in art, at which she was quite talented. She expressed this artistic talent in several ways. She made and decorated the cakes for her daughters' formal weddings. She and Glennon ran a ceramic shop, and she worked as a seamstress in a fabric shop where she excelled. She painted beautifully. Eventually, her artistic ability was expressed in her quilting; she made beautiful handmade quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also loved gardening, canning and baking, which were a necessity on the farm, and continued these long after retirement. Daisy and Glennon retired and relocated to Billings seeking better programs for their son's education. Sadly, before Larry graduated, Glennon received his angel's wings. Daisy eventually moved to a smaller home in Laurel. Daisy continued to work on her education, and was in St. Vincent Hospital's first graduating class of Certified Nursing Assistants. She worked in that field for several years. By then, her children were all married with children of their own, and she became involved in the activities of her grandchildren. She helped with Girl Scouts and school activities, and took great pride in being able to attend all of her grandchildren's high school graduations. Daisy checked a few items off her bucket list when she travelled to Alaska and Hawaii. She also arranged for more local family vacations, most notably to Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone Park, where she gave her great granddaughter Evelyn rides in her wheelchair. Early in her life, she gave her heart to the Lord. She raised her family to know and love the Lord. Her faith was a constant for her, and she remained involved with the church as long as her health allowed. When her health prevented attendance, she listened to sermons from home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband (1987), their infant son, Howard, as well as her parents, her sister Barbara, and brothers Lawrence (Larry) and Sonny. Surviving are her brothers Ted (Lois) and Bruce (Sheri ) Simpson as well as the husband of her late sister, Don Molsom (Dianne). She is survived by 7 children; daughter Myrna Wiser (Don), their children Eric (Heidi), William (Kathleen), Christopher (Megan), and Scott (Megan); daughter Gail Miller (Steve) their children Nathan (Lisa) and Kimberly; daughter Janet Griffin (Dan) their children Brady and Riley(fiancee Samantha); daughter Nancy Whitaker (Steve) their children Brandi Kreutzer (Jon), Ashley Kamigaki (Jason), and Jeremiah (Brandi); daughter Gwen Watson and her daughters Amanda Tiernan (Robert) and Randi O'Shea; daughter Debra Hellen (Mike) their children Jessica and Jacob (fiancee Felicia); and son Larry and his daughter Lari Corrine. Daisy was blessed with 23 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Kaelyn, Arianna, Ysabelle, Mathew, Donald (DJ), Kaylee, Logan, Connor and Wiser; Elisha and Evelyn Miller; Issac and Noah Kreutzer; Corbin, Gavin, Griffin and Talin Kamigaki; Reese, Ryan and Rosalee Whitaker; Kara and Oliver Tiernan. She leaves a large extended family with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Daisy's Life will be held at 11 am on September 2 at the New Life Foursquare Church, 201 1st. Ave. in Laurel, MT.
