Cliff was born the oldest of eleven children on his parents homestead 30 miles north of Saco February 15, 1918. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1935 and Northern Montana College-Havre in 1941. Cliff taught school in Box Elder for a year before enlisting in the Army Air Corps, 31 Squadron, 5th Bomb Group. After the war in 1946, Cliff attended and graduated from Montana Law School (U of M) in 1951 and practiced law for 63 years. He worked for the United States Attorney's Office, the Yellowstone County Attorney's Office and ran a private practice, sharing office space with his friend George Radovich from 1980 until his retirement on December 31, 2014. A true Montana outdoorsman: hunting , fishing, camping, prospecting and exploring as well as many other outdoor activities. He was a founding member of Red Lodge Mountain and the Beartooth Ski Patrol and enjoyed skiing in his 80's. He was a skilled musician and played in a local bluegrass band and attended fiddle camps all over the state. Cliff was a dedicated member of Masonic Ashler Lodge #29, Scottish Rite, VFW Post # 6774 and the Kiwanis. Memorial Services will be held April 24, 2015 at 9:15am at the Mason Center in Billings. Interment will follow at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel.
