LAUREL - Charles "Chuck" Joseph Brohaugh, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great- great grandfather and friend, of Laurel MT, passed away on October 2, 2014, from severe pneumonia. Chuck was born June 5, 1924, to his parents Ollie and Matilda Brohaugh of Laurel. Chuck and his sister, Ann, grew up with their parents on a ranch South East of Laurel. Chuck enjoyed working on the ranch devoting much of his time to taking care of the animals. He developed a special love for animals and always made them a part in his life. At the time of his passing, his cats, Taupe and Patches where showered with his love. He attended Laurel Schools, where his mother was a teacher. Chuck was first married to Virginia and from this marriage three children were born, Charlotte, Jamie and Rusty. The family remained on the farm until Virginia became ill and passed away. After Virginia's passing, Chuck moved to Laurel and formed Chuck's Repair Shop. He was an excellent mechanic and could repair almost anything. He enjoyed "tinkering" in his shop and spent many happy hours there. He met his second wife, Theresa Mae Walker, and they were married in 1976. Now, Chuck being a wonderful man with a huge heart took on the task of raising the six boys and one daughter Theresa brought to their marriage. Chuck loved these seven children like they were his own. He taught them many of life's lessons and also his skills in mechanics which they all use today. Together Chuck and Theresa operated Chuck's Repair Shop for 24 years. Chuck was also a brand inspector for 23 years. He was very proud to be a volunteer fireman for the Laurel Fire Department for 20 years. One of Chuck's greatest passions was fishing. Some people fish to live and others live to fish, Chuck did both. He went fishing every chance he got, filling the smoker with his latest catch for Theresa to can for later use. The family's annual fishing trips to Tongue River were always looked forward too and are filled with happy memories. Chuck was proud to hold the record for the largest Rainbow Trout caught in Montana for over thirty years. Chuck's other passion was music. He was a talented musician and loved playing the organ and guitar. Theresa played the bass and they spent many hours sharing their talent at the local nursing home, many special events and at other requested appearances. Every 4th of July, Chuck would take his organ outside on the lawn and play for everyone to enjoy the music before the parade started. His greatest loves were family, friends, fishing and music. Folks gravitated to him for his smile, sense of humor, and his down-to-earth personality. Chuck joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in March 2000 and was an active member until his death. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
