Catherine Decker Obituary

Catherine "Katy" Louise Decker joined the angels in Heaven on November 23, 2011. She was born December 11, 1934 in Encinitas, CA to Travis and Geneva Swaim. Growing up in a large family of eight brothers and sisters, she went on to raise a large family of her own. On November 9, 1959, Katy married her friend and soul mate Stanley Forrest Decker and between them they raised seven children. As Katy's children were growing, she worked as a retail clerk. After the children were grown Katy and Stan took to the road and drove a team truck for several years. In 2005 they came to Montana to visit some of their grandchildren where Katy fell in love with the snowcapped mountains and the slower Montana life. It was decided after that trip that Montana was the place to spend their golden years. With very little looking, Katy found her house. Even before setting foot in the door, she had made the decision that she wanted the yellow log house on a nice plot of land in Molt. Katy was an unbelievably strong woman. After breaking her neck in 1989 she recovered but never again lived free from pain. She fought many ailments daily, but never let it get her down or stop her from guiding her family. She was a true matriarch. She taught everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her forgiveness, the power of family and first and foremost, love. A Celebration of Mrs. Decker's life will be held 3:00pm Thursday December 1, 2011 at the Remington Letcher Memorial Chapel.
