Carl R. Schell, 57, passed away peacefully, his family at his side, on February 4, 2009 at St Vincent Hospital in Billings, from injuries incurred from a fall on the ice two days earlier. Carl was born January 25, 1952, in Helena to Fred and Lorraine (McCadden) Schell. His family came to Lewistown in 1953. He attended St. Leo's and went on to attend Carroll College and Montana State. He was employed as a surveyor for numerous seismograph companies.
He is survived by his daughter Shanna (Jon) Larson of Lewistown; his parents; siblings Linda (Jim) Wier of Lewistown, Greg (Robin) Schell of Sidney, MT and Nikki (Dave) Leonard of Superior, CO; several nieces and nephews and his dearest friend, Marcia Lushbaugh.
Carl was an avid sports fan and loved watching baseball games with his younger relatives. He also spent countless afternoons overcoming and improving his "handicaps" at the Pine Meadows Golf Coarse. Carl took life's ups and downs in a "glass half-full" way; lighting his friends' lives with constant stories and good humor.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Remington Central Montana Funeral Chapel in Lewistown. Cremation has taken place. Memorials can be made to the Central Montana Foundation - For Lewistown Redbirds, P.O. Box 334, Lewistown, MT 59457.
