Bette " Boop" Kappel passed away Wednesday evening on July 8th, 2015 at home surrounded by friends and family. Bette was born March 9th, 1944 to Buster and Margaret VanDewerker in Camp Crook, SD. After high school, Bette went to school and started working as a beautician and in June 8th, 1968 she married Alvin Kappel in Laurel, Mt. Bette and Alvin were blessed with a daughter Megan March 2nd, 1980. After the passing of her husband, Bette worked for Jan's IGA in Laurel, Mt. On Valentine 's Day in 2011 her precious gem was born her grandson Jensen Fellows. She loved playing cars and naming them over and over (makes and models) with Jensen. She loved trying to teach Jensen golf in the backyard. Bette loved remodeling the house with her best friend Vickie Escobedo. Those two always had plans to do something new. Vickie Escobedo and Dan Kerr were great friends with Bette. Dan you did an amazing job helping with the yard. We couldn't have made it where we are today without both of you. Bette also had a dear friend "Shorty". Thank you so much for all the laughs. Bette is survived by her daughter Megan Kappel, her son-in-law James Fellows, her precious grandbaby Jensen Fellows, her friends Vickie Escobedo, Dan Kerr and Shorty. Also her brothers Rick(Helen) VanDewerker, Verle(Laurie) VanDewerker, Edgar(Marlene) Engen. Her three sisters Fran Spoon, Sharon Stein and Edna Matz. And 3 special sister- in-laws Bonnie VanDewerker, Phyllis VanDewerker, and Bella Engen. She is also survived by her extended family Marvin(Kay) Kappel, Norma Kappel, and George(Gloria) Kappel. Bette is preceded in death by her parents Buster and Margaret VanDewerker, her husband Alvin Kappel, three brothers Harold Engen, Ted VanDewerker, Keith VanDewerker and brothers-in- law Leroy Kappel, Leo Matz and Don Stein. Bette "Boop" will always be remembered by her spitfire attitude and her devotion of taking care of her little boy Jensen. She will be loved and missed by friends and family. We love you grandma, until we "See you again" Jensen and Megan. Graveside services will be at Laurel Cemetery on the "hill" at 11am on July14th, 2015. Following the service we ask you to join us in celebration of Boop at the house.
