Beatrice Allen died at her Laurel home on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009. She was 86 years old. Bea was born Beatrice Adeline Rogers on November 16, 1922, in New Liepzig, North Dakota. Her family moved to Elgin, North Dakota and she graduated from high school there in 1939. Bea attended Dickenson State College for two years, then worked for the Office of Price Administration during World War II.
In 1944 she moved to Laurel, Montana and worked for the Laurel Cooperative Refinery. On, September 20, 1946, Bea was united in marriage to William L Allen in Lewiston, Montana. They made their home in Laurel and both worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until retirement. In 1996, William passed away.
Bea was a talented pianist, playing and composing her own music. She enjoyed dancing and was an avid bridge player. She was a parish member of St Anthony Catholic Church.
Bea is survived by sons Dr William R Allen of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Gerald D Allen of Laurel, Montana; and two grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew, of Colorado Springs.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9 at St Anthony's Catholic Church in Laurel and the funeral mass will be held there at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10 with burial afterward.
