Barbara Serfazo Obituary

Our beloved mom, Barbara June Serfazo, 76, was called home to our loving Lord and Savior on November 12, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born to Leroy and Lucy Dunn on June 8, 1949, in Billings, MT.  She spent her formative years growing up in the tight-knit community of Harlowton, MT, where the hallmarks of her enduring character- a bold heart and tireless work ethic- were first established.

After graduating from Harlowton High School she moved to Billings, where she met and married Ernest Serfazo April 8, 1974. They settled in Shepherd, Montana on some acreage, and together started a family and ran Ernie’s Southway Service shop in Billings. Eventually retiring from the mechanic life and moving to the ranch south of Laurel in 1982, where she lived out the rest of her life. Raising sheep and cattle and her beloved flock of chickens.

As a true nurturer, Barbara found her calling in the service of others. Her spirit shone brightest through her work as a devoted Certified Nursing Assistant, lending her compassion, strength and undying work ethic across both major hospitals in Billings for many years. Eventually taking her to home care health, which she took great pride in her patients. She retired in 2024 after her diagnosis of Lymphoma; in which she fought courageous and beat it.

Above all, her greatest joy and life’s purpose was her family. She dearly loved all her kids and grandchildren and numerous bonus kids through the years. She filled her remaining years caring for her two youngest grandsons, sharing many treasured moments with them and cheering at sports games.  A true nurturer, she opened her home and heart to foster children over the years as well.

Barbara’s resilience and determination allowed her to face life’s challenges due to her faith in Jesus Christ, providing deep spiritual roots and solace. She also found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful pursuits; In her early years the dirt bike and snowmobile adventures with our dad. And in her later years garage sales, gardening, and going to the mountains to fish. She remained independent and active until her passing. Her strength will live on through all those who knew and loved her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her eldest son Ernie Serfazo Jr.; her husband Ernest Serfazo; step daughter Paula Serfazo; and her parents Leroy and Lucy Dunn.

She is survived by her son, Kullen Serfazo; his children Mackenzie (Levi) McKinney,  their son Dean; Andrew Serfazo and Terry Lawver; her daughter Lindsay Serfazo (Andy Anderson) their two sons Hesston and Granger.  Step sons and daughters and their families: Mike (Janine) Serfazo, John Serfazo (Debbie McGregor); Betty Ann (Craig) Degenhardt, Penny (Ian) Heller, and Peggy (Geoff) Gray; several of her cousins.

Celebration of life will be held on December 6, 2025 at 11am at The Rock Church in Laurel, MT with luncheon to follow. Interment will be at the Harlowton Cemetery at a later date.

The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff and dedicated doctors at the Billings Clinic ICU for their exceptional care and support provided to Mom during her final days.
