Alice Potter Shinnick

Alice (Potter) Shinnick, 77, of Lewistown, passed away on June 27, 2008. She was born Sept. 18, 1930 to Dave and Irene (Messinger) Potter. She spent her first 12 years on a ranch at Valentine. THen the family moved to Cat Creek where she finished grade school. She boarded in Winnett at attend High School; she graduated in 1950. Alice worked on the E/L Dude Ranch at Greenough, where she met Jesse Shinnick. They were married in 1951. They worked on several ranches in the area, and then settled in Lewistown. Alice worked at the Paris Laundry for 25 years, and at the Little Big Men for five years before retiring. Alice liked to garden, cook, and bake. She was a big dog lover. She also liked to embroider and do latch hooks. She enjoed giving the completed handwork to family and friends. She enjoyed going for rides into the country to watch deer and to enjoy God's creations. Alice is survived by her husband, Jesse; son Gene (Patti) Shinnick; son Jim Shinnick; daughter Cindy Shinnick; two brothers, Fred (Joan) Potter and Frank (Joey) Potter; two grandsons and many nieces and nephews; and her best friend Elaine Horacek. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Ida; grandson Ronald and cousin Earl Bevis. Visitation will be Thursday July 3 from 10AM to 2PM at the Remington Central Montana Funeral Chapel in Lewistown. Memorial Services will be 2PM July 7th at the Lewistown United Methodist Church.
